“AU CHEVAL ET CHEVALIER” mantel clock Period: LXVI, The dial is signed Ageron à Paris. Dark patinated and gilded bronze and white marble. Rectangular marble base with recessed sides on four profiled round feet. The sides are decorated with sunflowers and ornaments. A standing knight and a horse with its front leg raised, supporting the round clock case on its back. The clock case is surrounded by a wreath of acorns and a putto. Enamel dial with Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes. Movement with anchor escapement and quarter-hour striking with a hammer on two bells.
